The Rivers State Chapter of the International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA, has called on parents/guardians of victims of rape not to bow to pressure of financial inducement while seeking justice.
Chairperson of FIDA, Adata Bio-Briggs made the call in a statement at the weekend.
According to her, FIDA will always stand by victims of rape to ensure they get justice.
She also called for proper punishment for rape offenders to deter others, adding that punishment for defilement is life imprisonment.
