The Owner of demolished Prodest Hotel, Promise Gogorobari has alleged that the Assistant Chief Registrar at the Port Harcourt Magistrate district tore the original copy of the record of proceedings and other documents of the trial of the hotel’s Job Azoroh.
Gogorobari made this known in a petition to the Chief Judge of Rivers State, complaining of the conduct of the Port Harcourt registry.
He alleged that the Magistrate Court failed to accept and process applications from the manager to enable him file an appeal. Gogorobari equally stated that Azoroh’s lawyer had applied for the record of proceedings and other relevant documents but that these have not been made available.
The hotel owner called on the chief judge of the state to intervene on the matter. He appealed to the chief judge to prevail on the registry to release the court proceedings of the manager, so an appeal can be filed.
Job Bariledum Azoroh, manager of the hotel had earlier been convicted by a magistrate court in Port Harcourt for allegedly disobeying the state government’s directive on hotel closure. He has since tested positive to COVID-19, according to the Rivers state government.
