Our attention has been drawn to an admixture of whopper and exasperation in the media about Prince Uche Secondus. The author of this tissue of lies is the same person whose unbridled quest for power caused the unjust removal of Secondus as National Chairman of the PDP months ago. Our dear embattled, dishevelled, and emasculated governor seems to find bizarre respite in attacking everyone that has become more relevant than he [is] as far as national party matter is concerned.
Wike should permit us to ask Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi how he (Wike) embezzled money meant for projects as Chief of Staff. Amaechi had a lot of scathing remarks about this governor of ours. We heard from Amaechi that most of the failed projects were given to Wike. He who lives in a glass house should not throw stones.
This same Wike was stranded in Abuja because Amaechi got tired of his high-handedness and sacked him in the guise of ministerial appointment. It was when Wike got to Abuja that he realised that his name had been removed, a sign that his journey to Abuja was a hoax. But for Dame Patience Jonathan, who had scores to settle with Amaechi over the demolition of Okrika Waterfront, Wike would have returned empty and utterly disgraced.
Was Wike not used by Dame Patience Jonathan to fight Amaechi? Did Wike become great by hard work or by being an attack dog? Those whose kernel was broken by a benevolent spirit should learn to be humble. He is telling us cock-and-bull story about Prince Uche Secondus today as if we do not know his own history. We are even happy that he has acknowledged that the likes of Prince Uche Secondus were relevant during the military junta. Perhaps we should ask our dear governor who he was then. Yes, who was Gov. Wike then?
Need we remind Wike that the national PDP has moved on without him? The Secondus he is impugning today is the same person he backstabbed by sponsoring his removal as National Chairman for selfish reasons. Just to have his inordinate dream of becoming presidential candidate come true, he went as far as truncating the tenure of his own brother, using cooked up allegations. Thanks be to God that such unrealistic dream died faster than it was conceived.
Interestingly, however, providence has made Secondus relevant to the national party. When will our governor realise that he has become an orphan in politics? When? His lust for power has gradually stripped him of the fame he used to enjoy. Gov. Wike seems to be the only one who does not know that he means little or nothing to the national party today, and this really troubles us. The truth is, Gov. Wike deserves pity. He allowed himself to stray faraway from the national structure. Today, he has become a Nigerian Santa Claus to every other political party, in his bid to ventilate his agony. May God give our governor divine peace. Amen.
