An Unrepentant, Obdurate Rebel like Abe Deserves No Place in a Party of Progressives; Eze Reacts, as APC Enlists Abe in its Committees ….States that APC Leadership’s Continued Romance With Abe even after he vehemently refused to revalidate membership Is Antithetical To Progress, Encourages unfaithfulness, rebellion … Demands an urgent reversal of party’s action
Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze has frowned over the appointment of former Rivers South/East Senator, Magnus Ngei Abe, into the Legal Process and Security & Special Engagements Sub-Committees of the All Progressives Congress by the Mohammed Abubakar-led Contact & Strategy Committee of the party.
In a statement made available to media houses in Port Harcourt, the party Chief said contrary to established conventions of sane society and recognized standards of civilized behavior, Abe, on the frolic of his own, constituted himself into a combatant and alongside others, rebelled against the party and its hierarchy and made nonsense the authority of its leadership and the legitimacy of its constitution.
His surreptitious technique and combative approach in driving his private vendetta led to the tormenting exclusion of the All Progressives Congress and its candidates from the ballots in the 2019 elections and by that, he denied Rivers People their right at the polls and paved the way for Gov. Wike and the Peoples Democratic Party to cruise to victory without hurdles and till this moment, this horrendous and manifest insurrection against the party has remained uncharted against the norms of discipline, the litany of complaints and petitions notwithstanding.
As a way of reinforcing Sen. Abe for making his re-election bid a reality, Gov. Wike appointed his nominees into his cabinet and to this day, he has continued to lobby for and enjoy contracts from the Rivers State Governor.
Although every man is free to hobnob with whomever he wishes, but Abe’s fraternity with Wike has been one of an evil sort; always in dispute with his party but steadily aligning with the Governor on every actions including those that constitute crass offense to humanity and breach the rules of Progressives.
Abe had on several occasions, used legal technicalities to halt the congresses of the APC in Rivers State.
In all, the Supreme Court made an open show of him, establishing the right of the All Progressives Congress to order its internal affairs. Having no reasonable cause of action, the Court decided all suits in favor of the All Progressives Congress, making him a lone busybody and meddlesome interloper.
One would have loved to see the Ogoni-born saboteur and his cohorts be subjected to some sorts of disciplinary measures for the huge embarrassments they caused the party, to deter others who may be driven by reckless interests of the kind. That would have set a strong precedent and strengthen the foundation of discipline within the fold of Progressives. But instead, Abe was rewarded with an appointment as a Board Member of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), and at the NNPC, he goofed.
President Mohammadu Buhari, who doubles as Minister of Petroleum Resources, had through an executive order, cancelled the revocation of four Oil Mining Leases (OML 123, 124, 126 and 139) operated by Adax, a Nigerian Company of Chinese Origin, but Abe, in his usual carriage and in an attempt to incite the Public against the Nigerian leader, chided President Buhari for restoring the licenses to Adax, which action was in the economic interest of Nigeria, given the partnership the country enjoys with China especially, in infrastructural rehab and development.
The just concluded nationwide Membership Revalidation/Registration Exercise of the party was shunned by Sen. Abe who in line with his custom of insubordination, directed the few of his allies to disregard the exercise, assuring them of immunity against disciplinary measures by the party leadership.
Recall that he had earlier set the Court in motion, challenging the authority of the Mai Buni led Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee of the APC to conduct the revalidation/registration exercise. The Court again, turned him down and decided in favour of the party.
Having been immuned against discipline for wrongful acts and non-compliance to lawful directives, Abe has continued to enjoy recognition for his acts of sabotage against a party whose membership he claims; from one appointment to another, the former Lawmaker has been enlisted into two Sub-Committees of the All Progressives Congress; the Legal Process Sub-Committee and and the Security and Special Engagement Sub-Committee.
Germane in the instant is the fact that Abe is no longer a member of the All Progressives Congress, having failed to comply with the lawful directive of the leadership of the party, to revalidate his membership, and by the express provisions of the party’s constitution and as is customary, only those who are members are eligible to hold positions in an organization thus, the inclusion of Sen. Magnus Abe into the sub-committees of the party is grossly ill-at-ease and calls for question.
Describing the appointment as unbefitting a man whose antecedents smacks of political mutiny and contravenes every tenets of good moral and values of Progressives, the party Chief admonished the Mai Mala Buni-led interim leadership not to exploit the psychology of loyal party men to massage the self-conceit of third parties and saboteurs who have conscripted themselves into veritable tools in the camp of the adversaries.
He called on the party’s National leadership to review the reward system that has been awkwardly skewed in such a way to reward rebels and non-members as against loyal party faithful unless if the party wants those of us that are faithful to turn rebels.
Enough of this macabre dance and shenanigans acts with our feelings and test of loyalty to APC!!!
Signed
Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze,
APC Chieftain & former National Publicity Secretary, nPDP
