The Presidency has dismissed claims that Senator George Akume has been removed as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), describing the reports as false and misleading.
In a statement issued on Saturday, June 28, by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the Presidency affirmed that Akume remains the SGF and no such appointment or replacement has been made.
“The information circulating about Akume’s replacement is untrue. Agents of mischief fabricated it,” the statement read.
It also clarified that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is currently on an official visit to Saint Lucia, has not announced any changes to the SGF position and urged the public to disregard the fake news.
