The UK Government says Premier League and other top-level sporting events can restart from June 1, 2020 if strict criteria are met. However, no fans will be allowed access into sporting arenas.
Football has been shut down in the country and most parts of the world, owing to the deadly Coronavirus, which in the UK has claimed over 30,000 lives.
The guidelines from the UK Government as outlined by Prime Minister Boris Johnson indicates that sporting events can be broadcast from June 1, “while avoiding the risk of large-scale social contact”.
Johnson issued the above statement as part of a five-step strategy for gradually relaxing the country’s lockdown rules.
