The Rivers State Police Command has pledged to take decisive action against any threats to national security amid rising tensions in the state. Commissioner of Police Olugbenga Adepoju assured residents that security forces were fully prepared to prevent disruptions, warning that law enforcement would not tolerate any attempts to destabilize the state.
His statement follows threats from the Niger Delta Rescue Movement, a militant group that has vowed to attack oil installations in response to the ongoing political crisis and the alleged withholding of Rivers State’s federal allocation.
The group also issued a warning to non-indigenes, urging them to leave for their safety, as they claimed hostilities were imminent.
