The Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, says the President, Ahmed Tinubu-led administration is concerned about growing the maritime industry and deepening operations at the Ports.
Managing Director of the NPA, Dr Abubakar Dantosho, made this known during an operational tour of the Onne Ports complex in Eleme Local Government Area of Rivers State on Thursday.
According to him, the government is investing heavily in maritime, adding that plans are underway to develop the Apapa and Tin Can Ports in Lagos.
He called on terminal operators at the Port to increase investments in Nigerian ports so as to enhance efficiency.
He also said Nigeria deserves more investment in its Ports and called for more Corporate social responsibility by operators.
The Onne Port management commended the MD for the visit and called for more government support.
