The Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company has announced plans to transition fully to electronic billing, with paper bills set to be completely phased out by June 2026.
In a notice issued to customers, the company said the transition will commence on March 1, 2026, when all Maximum Demand (MD) customers will begin receiving electronic bills (e-bills) alongside traditional paper bills.
According to PHED, the dual issuance of both e-bills and paper bills will run for a three-month period, ending in June 2026, after which only electronic billing will remain in use.
The company explained that the move is part of efforts to improve service efficiency and promote sustainability within its operations.
To ensure uninterrupted delivery of bills, customers have been advised to update their contact details, including phone numbers and email addresses. PHED urged customers to visit their regional offices, contact their designated Key Account Officers, or make use of the PHED Connect App, which is available on the Play Store, to complete the update process.
The company also provided an online option for customers to update their information via its official website.
PHED expressed appreciation to customers for their cooperation and support during the transition period, assuring them of improved service delivery.
