Following the judgment delivered by Hon. Justice D.E. Osiagor of the Federal High Court of Lagos on the 8th December 2021 in suit No. FHC/L/CS/816/2018 and subsequent Bench Ruling on the 28th March 2022 on the issue of marriage under the marriage act.
The Port Harcourt City Local Government Council hereby advise the general public especially those desiring to have their marriage under the act, that the proper and legal place to carryout their marriage is the office of the marriage registrar in the Local Government Council as contained in the 4th schedule of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The General public is hereby put on notice that there is no other place where marriages are registered or conducted under the marriage act within the jurisdiction of Port Harcourt City Local Government Area except at the City Council. Please be guided accordingly.
