The Petroleum Retail Outlets Owners Association of Nigeria, PETROAN, says the slow pace of work on the Eleme axis of the East-West Road is hindering the smooth distribution of petroleum products from the Port Harcourt Refinery.
Joseph Obele, spokesperson of PETROAN in a statement on Thursday said the contractor – Renold Construction Company, was sabotaging President, Bola Tinubu’s efforts to ensure the smooth distribution of petroleum products despite receiving about N33 billion for the project.
“Thousands of petroleum trucks will be using the road to convey products from the newly inaugurated the Port Harcourt refinery; hence, further delay is detrimental. The Eleme East-West Road is a critical route for the transportation of petroleum products, and its safety is paramount,” he said.
He called on the government to take decisive action to address the slow pace of work by RCC.
