The Port Harcourt branch of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has reacted to the destruction of a High Court building at Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State by hoodlums yesterday.
The association in a statement yesterday by its Chairman, Prince Nyekwere condemned the incident stating that it is clear that the process has been hijacked by hoodlums who do not mean well for the nation.
Nyekwere called on the Federal Government to ensure the safety of Nigerians as it is their right to associate freely and embark on peaceful protests.
He furthermore thanked the Rivers State Government for setting up a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to probe human rights abuses by officials of the disbanded SARS unit.
