A chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kenneth Okonkwo, has dismissed the political relevance of former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, describing him as “inconsequential” to the 2027 presidential race.
Okonkwo made the remarks on Thursday during an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today while responding to questions about his position on Obi.
The actor-turned-politician, who recently announced his appointment as spokesperson for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, said his focus is on candidates he considers serious contenders for the 2027 election.
“I have just been appointed the spokesperson of Atiku Abubakar, so Peter Obi is inconsequential in whatever he is doing with his life. May we proceed to talk about more important issues?” he said.
He added, “I want to talk about contenders in 2027, not pretenders. Can you bring down somebody who is already down?”
