The Rivers State Task Force on Waste Management has revealed that some persons hide under the guise of scavengers at dumpsites in the state to peddle illicit drugs.
Spokesperson of the taskforce, Olalekan Ige who made this known in a statement yesterday, warned those involved to desist from the act.
According to him officials will be on the lookout for such persons and anyone caught would face the wrath of the law.
He also warned those who dump refuse at illegal dumpsites to desist from the act, adding that defaulters will be charged to court.
He urged residents of the state to obey waste management laws as the taskforce does not derive joy in arresting and prosecuting offenders.
Ige also revealed that an intervention team has has been put in place to ensure that waste is cleared from dump sites when due.
