The People’s Democratic Party in Rivers State has denied allegations that her supporters were behind the attempt to disrupt the APC governorship campaign rally in Omuma today.
The spokesperson of the Sim/Ngozi campaign council, Chief Ogbonna Nwuke says the crisis which happened at Omuma is community-based and was triggered by the unlawful detention of a young man by security operatives attached to the leader of the APC in Omuma.
“The truth is that a young man from the community where the rally was to hold was apprehended by security attached to the APC leader in Omuma in company of some OSPAC members and beaten to pulp,” he said.
Nwuke said the PDP has nothing to do with what transpired today at Omuma, he absorbed the PDP of any involvement in the confrontation that took place.
“We are shocked by a report that is filtering in from Omuma. The report suggests that some unknown persons purportedly belonging to the PDP dismantled the venue of a pro-APC rally this morning. In Omuma.
“As usual, the APC propaganda machine has found it convenient to place the blame for what transpired on the PDP. While we agree that we are the biggest party in Rivers State, with very strong followership throughout the various local government areas, the PDP categorically absorbs itself from any involvement in the confrontation that took place.
He advised the APC to always investigate issues very well before rushing to the press and asked Rivers people to disregard the baseless allegations.
“In asking the APC to conduct investigations before dashing to press, we urge Rivers people to ignore lies that are being told by the APC. They are unfounded and baseless.”
Earlier, the Guber Candidate of the APC alleged PDP chieftains in Omuma were behind the attack on his campaign rally ground at Omuma.
