The Chairman of the Rivers State Committee on Palliatives Amb. Desmond Akawor, has said that the foodstuffs delivered to residents of Obio-Akpor and Port Harcourt Local Government Areas are substantial for each household.
The Chairman in a chat with journalists in Port Harcourt yesterday, said minimum of 10 bags of Rice, cartons of Indomie, Yams and Beans were given to each ward.
This is coming, after some stakeholders criticised the state government for distributing foodstuff that are not enough despite huge resources ear marked.
But the Chairman in a swift reaction said, those little items seen given out are not from the Committee. They are from other organisations that are also giving out palliatives, he reiterated.
The Chairman assured the people of the state that more measures are being considered by the government to help cushion the effect of COVID-19.
