The Oyo State Police Command has dismissed as false and malicious a report claiming that one of the schoolchildren abducted during a recent terrorist attack on three schools in Ahoro-Esienle, Oriire Local Government Area has died in captivity.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, the police described the report as entirely unfounded and the work of individuals spreading misinformation.
The Command expressed serious concern over the circulation of what it called a misleading and mischievous publication, stressing that at no point had it, or any other security agency involved in the rescue operation, confirmed such an incident.
It further stated that the claim was fabricated to incite public panic, generate fear, and disrupt ongoing security efforts aimed at rescuing the abducted pupils safely.
