A journalist with Voice of America, Mrs. Grace Abdu who was arrested by the Nigerian Army for carrying out an investigation into what transpired in Oyigbo during the military invasion has regained her freedom.
Chairman of the Civil Society Organizations in Rivers State, Enefaa Georgewill made this known in a statement yesterday.
Grace was arrested by the military yesterday afternoon, while interviewing and taking clips of residents of Oyigbo LGA, affected by the incident.
According to reports, earlier attempts by some Civil Society Organizations to secure her release proved abortive as the officers were insisting on handing her over to the Police.
Meanwhile, some stakeholders have criticized the actions of the military, stating that Mrs. Abdu, being a journalist has every right to carryout investigations on what transpired in Oyigbo.
