The Osun State Government has instituted a lawsuit against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), challenging the freezing of its statutory allocation account and demanding N2 billion in exemplary damages.
The suit, marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1762/2026, was filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja on August 5. The state is asking the court to declare the EFCC’s directive freezing the account unlawful and to set it aside.
The legal action comes despite President Bola Tinubu’s directive to the EFCC to vacate the court order that led to the freezing of the state’s account, suggesting the Osun Government is seeking a judicial pronouncement on the legality of the commission’s actions and compensation for the alleged losses suffered.
