The Executive Chairman of Opobo/Nkoro Local Government Area of Rivers State, Enyiada Cookey-Gam has inaugurated a skills and Acquistion committee to train indigenes of the area.
The Council chair during the inauguration of the 9-man committee said one thousand persons will be trained in their chosen fields in the first phase of the program.
According to him, the essence of the initiative is to take people of the area out of poverty and put food on their table.
He said participants will be empowered with the necessary equipment after the training, and that the scheme is open to all irrespective of party affiliation.
The committee is chaired by chairman of the PDP in Opobo – Godwin Pepple.
