Concerned residents of Port Harcourt are set to stage a peaceful demonstration on August 22, 2026, to draw attention to the activities of suspected “one chance” operators in the city.

The organisers said the activities of the operators have allegedly resulted in loss of property, severe injuries, emotional trauma and, in some cases, loss of lives.

In a letter addressed to the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Olugbenga Adepoju, and sighted by our correspondent, the organisers said the protest would commence at 9:00 a.m. at Pleasure Park. Participants will then proceed to the Rivers State Government House before heading to the Rivers State Police Command Headquarters on Moscow Road.

They said the demonstration, which will end at 1:00 p.m., is aimed at advocating for a safer city and a more secure transportation system.

The organizerss assured that the protest would be peaceful and orderly, with participants expected to conduct themselves responsibly and within the provisions of the law.

Among the demands to be presented is a call for all commercial vehicles operating in Rivers State to be painted in the officially approved colour designated by the state government, among others
