The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has attributed the rising cases of human trafficking in the country to the influence of misleading messages from movies, social media, and some religious organizations, which promote a “get-rich-quick” mentality.
She made this assertion on Friday during a meeting with the Director-General of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), Binta Bello, and senior officials of the agency at the State House in Abuja.
Tinubu expressed concern over the negative societal impacts of these messages and stressed the need for a re-orientation toward hard work and patience. She also pledged her support for NAPTIP’s ongoing efforts to combat human trafficking.
The statement was disclosed by the Senior Special Assistant to the First Lady on Media, Busola Kukoyi, in a press release.
