The people of Obizi in Mbaise, Imo state where late aspiring singer ‘Sleek’, hails from have given the Rivers State Police Command 48 hours to update the public on the state of the matter.
Lawyer to Sleek’s family and representative of his community, Noble Njoku made this known during a meeting between the family and members of the Rivers State Coalition of Civil Society Organisations today.
Mr Njoku stated that since the incident, the state Police command is yet to visit the family and commiserate with them over the loss.
Mr Ikeaguchi, father of the deceased on his part said he has spent over five hundred thousand naira to ensure Justice is served on the matter.
“I was made to pay for the expenses of the autopsy. Over 200k. I know it’s supposed to be the duty of the state. I asked the doctor if the results will be given me, he said it is the Police property. Then I said why should I pay? Even after the autopsy. I was told I have to apply for it in the court.’
“I spent 100k on the autopsy, mortuary demanded 10k. Then other expenses like transportation for police from the headquarter to the hospital and back,” he added.
