The lawmaker representing Etche/Omuma Federal Constituency, Hon. Ephraim Nwuzi has formally announced his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on the floor of the House of Representatives today.
Ephraim, a two-time former Chairman of Etche LGA, and a former ally of Governor Nyesom Wike, had few weeks ago hinted that he was leaving the PDP for the APC.
After his announcement, he was officially received into the party by Ado Doguwa, the Leader of the House.
Meanwhile, immediately after Nwuzi’s announcement there was a rowdy session in the House as members of the PDP urged the Speaker, Femi Gbajabiamila to declare the seat of the lawmaker vacant.
Minority Leader, Ndudi Elumelu who raised a constitutional order said “The member whose letter has just be read is from Rivers State and I am aware that there is no crisis in the PDP in Rivers State. As a result of that, we are demanding that the seat be declared vacant”.
The Speaker of the House after listening to the points raised by the opposition responded by saying that he has noted the issues raised.
