The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Hon. Chijioke Ihunwo has promised to build a new lodge for corps members serving in the local government.
Ihunwo made this known in a statement shortly after a meeting with the management of the National Youth Service Corps and some corps members serving in Obio Akpor on Friday.
He also offered two weeks free accommodation for those who do not have a place to stay.
The statement read, “As the Caretaker Chairman of Obio Akpor local government area of Rivers State, I announced plans to build a new lodge for corps members serving in the local government.
“As an immediate remedy, I have offered a two week free accommodation for those who do not have a place to stay.
‘I was speaking during a meeting with the management of the National Youth Service Corps and some corps members serving in Obio Akpor.
“Amongst other things, I also promised to address the complaint of inadequate water where some of the corps members presently reside.
“I assured the corps members that I will do everything to make them comfortable and safe.
