The Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, George Ariolu has recommended that the property used for illegal oil refining behind Zenith Bank in Rumuokoro, which got burnt at the weekend should be confiscated.
Ariolu in a chat with journalists while on the spot assessment, said owner of the building, should also be arrested for allowing his property to be used for such illegal activity.
The council boss, who condemned the illegal oil refining activity, said they are pained by the incident.
He also said they do not expect such activity which endanger the lives of residents to happen in the LGA.
He stated that security operatives have been ordered to barricade the property to prevent people from going in, until the state government visits the area to carry out investigation.
