Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, Amb. Chijioke Ihunwo has called on anyone interested in joining the local vigilance group, OSPAC in the area to apply through his SA on security.
Ihunwo, made this known when the OSPAC leader in Rivers State, Comrade Emeka Onyeocha visited him at the council secretariat on Friday.
According to him, motions have been put in place to reactivate the local vigilance group.
He faulted those who think that he does not have the powers to delve into security issues in the local government.
“We have been hearing different announcements and news on the radio that I do not have power to disband OSPAC but let me tell those people that I have full capacity and legal backing to do anything I want to do regarding OSPAC as the Chief security officer of the LGA. However, we have agreed that whosoever is interested in joining OSPAC should apply through my SA on security because we are starting the recruitment, profiling and training of members from next week,” he said
Ihunwo also revealed that no one can blackmail him into hurriedly restoring OSPAC in the LGA without doing the needful.
He told everyone that he has the constitutional powers to inaugurate and also disband the security outfit at any point in time.
