Embattled Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has announced his resignation from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). This was after meeting President Buhari at Aso Rock in Abuja.
The governor made this known to Journalists at Government House, Benin, Today Tuesday 16 2020. The move has fueled rumors that he might be joining the PDP, though he did not disclose the party he will be moving to.
Obaseki’s defection is due to the fact that he was disqualified from contesting the governorship primaries of the party by its screening committee owing to errors in his certificates.
The governor is currently having a running battle with his predecessor and current National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomole, who had earlier announced that the screening committee did its job thoroughly.
Obaseki has also allegedly warned all “busy body” APC governors not to interfere with the Edo governorship elections but to remain in their bases in keeping with COVID-19 restrictions on movement or risk being quarantined.
