The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Rivers State Chapter, has warned its members to desist from violating the state government’s directives.
State Chairman of the Association, Monday Eliaza made this known to journalists today in Port Harcourt while reacting to the statement made by Governor Wike about the attitude of drivers. He said, henceforth any of its members caught flouting the directives of the state government will be sanctioned accordingly.
Gov. Wike had in a state broadcast complained of drivers flagrant disobedience of his directives on the number of passengers they are expected to carry this period, due to COVID-19.
The NURTW Boss said, he has directed zonal chairmen in the state to monitor the activities of drivers in their areas and ensure compliance.
He equally directed them to suspend and punish anyone found wanting, as the union cannot fold its hands and watch members disobey the directives of the state government.
