The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has sanctioned 79 personnel for various acts of professional misconduct and arrested 12 suspects in connection with critical national infrastructure vandalism and illegal arms dealing.
The Commandant General of the Corps, Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi, said the actions underscore the NSCDC’s commitment to transparency, accountability, public safety, and zero tolerance for misconduct within its ranks.
According to the Corps, disciplinary proceedings conducted under the Public Service Rules and the NSCDC Conditions of Service were concluded for 75 officers. Those sanctioned include one Assistant Commandant General, two Deputy Commandants, 35 other senior officers, and 37 junior officers.
The offences ranged from job racketeering, financial misconduct, theft, and absence without official leave to acts considered prejudicial to national security. Sanctions imposed include dismissal, compulsory retirement, and recommendations for criminal prosecution.
The Corps also disclosed that four personnel are currently undergoing disciplinary proceedings over alleged illegal arms dealing.
The Corps stressed that the misconduct of the affected officers does not reflect the professionalism and integrity of the majority of NSCDC personnel nationwide.
It added that all suspects and sanctioned personnel remain entitled to due process as administrative and legal proceedings continue, while urging members of the public to remain vigilant and provide credible intelligence to support efforts to safeguard national security.
