Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, says he has not promised anyone the Governorship position of the State come 2023.
The Governor, disclosed this during a thanksgiving service to mark his six years in office, at St. Paul’s cathedral in Diobu, Port Harcourt on Sunday.
Wike said he would not allow any cabal within and outside Rivers State contemplating to impose his successor on the people of the State.
He described the remaining two years of his administration as crucial, adding that at the appropriate time stakeholders will meet to decide who his successor will be.
“Let me say it again, I have never sat with anybody to say I will make you governor. But, as a governor, nobody from anywhere, be it in the party, in Abuja, will impose who will be the candidate of PDP in Rivers state,” he said.
“Nobody can impose a candidate here in this state. So, if you are running to Abuja, you are wasting your time,” he added.
He also said since the inception of his administration, he has continued to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of the State, despite plans to destabilize his administration.
