Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has said that a Budget Implementation Committee will not be set up in the State because it is unknown to law.
The Governor, in a statement disclosed that it is unecessary to set up such committee, as his administration is in support of financial autonomy for the Judiciary and have been implementing it.
He stated that it is only the executive arm of government at all tiers that is bound by law to present the annual budget to either State or National Assembly, under a Federal system of government.
Wike also disclosed that workers of the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, will not be paid for the first week of June, for failing to resume work before May 31, as directed by the government.
The Governor, who commended JUSUN, for calling off its strike, said the state Accountant General has been directed not to pay them for the first week of June in which the ‘no work-no pay policy’ was in place.
