The Rivers State Chapter of the Nigeria Medical Association has raised an alarm over the kidnap of one of its members, Dr. Boma Erekosima from his residence last week.
State Chairman of the NMA, Chizindu Aliko made this known in a chat with journalists in his office yesterday.
He said nothing has been heard of Dr.Boma’s whereabouts for over a week and that enough has not been done by relevant authorities to ensure his release.
He called on the relevant security agencies to ensure the unconditional release of Dr. Erekosima.
Dr. Chizindu noted that when health practitioners are kidnapped there cannot be a functional healthcare.
He, therefore, called for the protection of health practitioners in the state so they can effectively tackle the COVID-19 pandemic.
