Presidential Spokesperson, Femi Adesina has said that the country cannot depend on president Muhammadu Buhari alone for security of lives and properties.
Adesina who disclosed this in a chat with Journalists said Nigerians will be making a grave mistake if they believe that securing the country, is the sole responsibility of the president.
He said despite the fact that the president is the chief security officer of the nation, everybody is part of the security architecture of the country.
“Yes, the president has the responsibility to guarantee safety of lives and property according to the constitution that he swore to uphold but to say that it is his sole business, responsibility or prerogative, we will be very wrong. Everybody is part of the security architecture of the country. It is just that the responsibility weighs heavier on one person than the others but we all are part of it,” he said.
“That can only be wrong and it can only be part of the problem, rather than the solution. Security is everybody’s business. Even at the ward and local government levels, people can be part of the security apparatus. Because when you see something and you say something, you are contributing to the security architecture of the country,” Adesina added.
