The coalition of Niger Delta Journalists under the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rivers State Chapter has honoured the Etche Local Government Chairman, Dr. Obinna Anyanwu, as an outstanding council chairman on infrastructural development.
Chief Press Secretary to the Etche Local Government Council, Oluor Robinson disclosed this in a statement yesterday.
His statement reads,
The Executive Chairman of Etche Local Government Area, Hon (Dr) Obinna Anyanwu has been honoured as an outstanding council chairman on infrastructural development and security management for the Year 2022 by the coalition of Niger Delta Journalists under the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Rivers State chapter.
The award was in recognition of Anyanwu’s proactive leadership style which has translated into the successes recorded in security, healthcare and education sectors, infrastructural development, among others.
The award was presented to the chairman by Dr. Ijeoma Tubosia, Chairman, Happy Hour Committee of the NUJ Rivers State chapter at his private residence, Port Harcourt.
Receiving the award, (Dr) Anyanwu noted that the award was a call to continue to prioritise the welfare of Etche people, reassuring that his administration will continue to pursue reforms and programmes to improve the livelihoods of the majority of the people.
Earlier, Dr. Ijeoma Tubosia solicited for the support and partnership of the Etche council chairman towards the forthcoming Happy Hour week of the Rivers NUJ scheduled for 2nd of September 2022.
Chief Obinna Anyanwu announced the sum of five hundred thousand naira as support to the union on behalf of the council.
