Dr Samuel Ogbuku, MD/CEO Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has led a team of engineers and experts on road maintenance to inspect the failed portions of East/West road along the Ahoada West axis, to ameliorate the sufferings of the motorists plying this very important business and exit route.
Speaking during the inspection, the MD/CEO stated that after the 2022 devastating flood, NDDC intervened to make the Road motorable while the federal ministry of works was working to construct a deep and wide culvert for easy flow of surface and underground water. But this present administration has started the process of building the culverts and the project is ongoing.
He assured commuters that some portion of the road would be stabilized to enable easy movement and allow the contractor to concentrate on building the culverts and aid the speedy completion of the road for the benefit of the people in the region.”
We are here to show empathy and concern as well as assure the people of the region and the road users that the problem will soon be over.”
The President General of Ijaw Youth Council, Sir. Jonathan Lokpobiri while appreciating the NDDC said “The East-West Road is the only main thoroughfare that connects the Niger Delta states, this intervention by the NDDC is timely and crucial before the rain comes heavily and everywhere flooded. This effort must be complemented by the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration, by giving priority attention to this East-West road.”
