The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has announced that its Ag Director of Finance and Administration, Bassey Ibanga died of COVID-19.
The Commission’s Ag Director of Corporate Affairs, Charles Odili made this known in a statement in Port Harcourt yesterday. Charles noted that the announcement of the director’s cause of death was authorised by the deceased family.
Odili equally confirmed that the state ministry of health had few days ago written to the commission that Mr. Bassey died of complications from the virus. The virus has so far killed 16 persons in the state according to the NCDC.
Odili’s statement is coming after several speculations regarding the cause of Mr. Bassey’s death. The commission has since after Bassey’s death shutdown its operations for 21 days and asked its workers to self isolate.
