The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), has commended the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike for the proactive measures taken so far to curb the spread of coronavirus in the state.
Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu during a meeting with Wike and officials of the NCDC at the Government House, Port Harcourt on Sunday, said Rivers State is important in the fight to stop the spread of the virus in Nigeria.
Dr. Ihekweazu said Rivers State being the oil and gas hub of Nigeria is important to the entire nation and not just to Rivers people.
The NCDC Director General who came with the officer in charge of WHO said, his team is in Rivers State to engage with the state’s public health team. This is in order to consolidate on the successes recorded on the fight against the coronavirus pandemic.
Furthermore, Dr. Chikwe called on all stakeholders to support the government in the fight against the virus, as it is a collective responsibility. He urged the people of the state to practice good respiratory hygiene as the virus is real.
