The Nigerian Navy has reacted to a claim by Niger Delta Activist, Asrari Dokubo that it is at the forefront of oil theft in the Niger Delta region.
Spokesperson of the Navy, Adedotun Ayo-Vaughan in a statement shortly after Asari’s claim challenged him to mention the names of officers allegedly involved.
He described Asari’s claim as “spurious and unguarded” adding that oil thieves are angry because the Navy has continued to deny them avenues to sabotage the economy.
“If Asari Dokubo is seeking some form of relevance and alleges that there is a cabal of military people that are involved in crude oil theft, let him bring the names. Nobody is afraid of getting the names of those involved in crude oil theft,” he said.
