The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has stepped up efforts to curb the activities of illegal sachet and bottled water producers operating outside approved regulatory standards.
The South-South Zonal Director of NAFDAC, Chukwuma Oligbu, said the agency has developed strategies to identify and shut down unregistered water factories across the state.
He disclosed that inspections would be carried out in sachet water production facilities in all local government areas to detect and close illegal operations.
Oligbu warned that unregistered water producers pose significant health risks to consumers and urged members of the public to report any suspected illegal sachet water factories to the nearest NAFDAC office. He stressed that offenders would be tracked down and brought to justice.
