Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party in Rivers State, Amb. Desmond Akawor has described statements by the Chairman of APC in Akwa Ibom state, Alphonsus Ebah that Gov. Nyesom Wike visited the state to intimidate members of the party, as “Foolish and a display of Ignorance.”
Akawor, said this during a press briefing in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
He said the Governor had only visited the state for a political rally, noting that the party would win Saturday’s by-elections to occupy some federal seats in the state.
He described APC as a cancerous party with zero democracy and zero tolerance for opposition participation.
The state PDP Chairman, also denied claims that he met with members of the APC in the state to help cause crises in the party.
According to him, the allegation is false, adding that he does not even know the venue of the alleged meeting.
He noted that the only problem he has is scheduling dates for thousands of APC members decamping to the PDP.
Akawor, said about 600 members of the APC from Obio/Akpor and Emohua would be received into the PDP on the 4th of March 2020.
