Counsel to the embattled chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Ibrahim Magu has written to the Inspector General of Police seeking bail for his client.
The lawyer, Tosin Ojaomo believes the charges levelled against Magu are bailable and therefore, urged the IGP to release him on administrative bail pending the determination of the investigation.
He said Magu needs to adequately prepare himself for defence in accordance with relevant provisions of the constitution.
Magu’s lawyer also conveyed in the letter his readiness to provide credible suretees for his client if the need arises
Copies of the letter have been forwarded to the office of the president and chairman of the presidential probe panel investigating the activities of the EFCC under Magu’s leadership.
