Kidnappers have demanded a N16m ransom for a 60-year-old farmer, Nyieda Kpeenu allegedly abducted few days ago at Nweol community, Gokana LGA, Rivers State.
According to one of the sons of the victim, their mother was kidnapped on the night of Wednesday, when the hoodlums stormed their house, shooting sporadically in the air, before carting her away.
He said “They forced the house of our mother open and took her away. It was a disturbing scene. They further created tension by not calling us two days after the incident. They later contacted us and demanded N16million ransom.”
Police Spokesperson SP Nnamdi Omoni, when reached, said he was not aware of the matter but promised to confirm the incident.
