Unknown gunmen have shot dead a commercial driver and kidnapped over eight passengers along the Abonnema/Degema Road in Rivers State.
Sources say the vehicle was traveling from Mile 1 to Buguma on Saturday night when the incident occurred at a bad spot on the Road.
The bus driver identified as salvation died on the spot while the passengers were abducted and taken into the bush.
It was gathered that his corpse has been deposited at a morgue, and that one of the abducted passengers have been rescued after paying the sum of hundred and fifty thousand naira.
Meanwhile, drivers plying the road have blasted security officials for not doing enough to ensure the security of lives and properties along the road.
The Rivers State Police Command, has reacted to the incident noting that Investigation is on to unravel what transpired, and arrest perpetrators of the crime.
Spokesperson of the command, DSP, Grace Koko who made this known said security have been beefed up along the road.
