Following the recent abduction of five passengers along the Kalabari/Emouha road, the Rivers State Police Command, says it is working with council chairmen of Asari-Toru, Akuku-Toru and Degema to tackle insecurity in the affected areas.
Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Grace Iringe-Koko, made this known in a statement in Port Harcourt on Monday.
She noted that the Commissioner of Police, Eboka Friday has deployed officers to the affected areas, and also charged Divisional Police Officers to ensure there is peace.
She also called on residents to work with the Police by reporting suspicious movement, as they understand the terrain better.
“We are working on it, though we have scanty information about the issue at the moment but the state Commissioner of Police, Friday Eboka, has deployed adequate security to the area and also urged council chairmen and DPOs to ensure there is peace,” she said.
“The people should work with the police as well. if there is any suspicious movement, they should call on the police, we are willing to assist because they are in the domain and understand the terrain better,” she added.
