The First Lady of Kaduna State and Wife of the Executive Governor, Hajiya Aisha Ummi Garba El-Rufai is seeking the castration of rapists as punishment, so as to deter others from committing such crime.

Hajiya El-Rufai made this known while appearing before the State House of Assembly yesterday, as lawmakers held a public hearing to amend the Kaduna State Penal Code 2017.

She said, “I am here to see how our respected lawmakers can expedite speedy passage of the amended bill on sexual violence. It is happening to our children and women every day. Our children and women need to be protected and that is why I’m seeking for the speedy passage of the bill.”

She said the state records series of rape cases on a daily basis and that severe punishment would help to curb the menace.
