President Bola Tinubu has declared that creating state police is inevitable as part of measures to strengthen security across Nigeria.
Speaking on Tuesday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, during a courtesy visit by a delegation of prominent Katsina indigenes led by Governor Dikko Radda, the president said the federal government is determined to confront insecurity head-on.
Tinubu directed security agencies to review their operations in Katsina State, which has recently witnessed an escalation of banditry. He disclosed that advanced military equipment, surveillance technology, and additional drones would be deployed to the state, alongside efforts to build the capacity of newly recruited forest guards.
“The security challenges we are facing are surmountable. Yes, we have porous borders. We inherited weaknesses that could have been addressed earlier. It is a challenge that we must fix, and we are facing it,” Tinubu stated.
The president emphasised that the country’s security challenges would be overcome with determination and proper strategy.
