The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner in Rivers State, Dr. Johnson Alalibo Sinikiem, has inspected the first batch of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) delivered to the state ahead of the commencement of collection on October 9, 2026.
Sinikiem conducted the inspection on Friday, October 2, alongside members of his management team, including the heads of General Administration and Procurement, Electoral Operations, and Finance and Accounts.
The exercise follows an earlier announcement by INEC headquarters that PVC collection and the display of the voters’ register for inspection and correction of personal details would begin on October 9 across the 23 local government areas of the state.
The REC and his team also inspected non-sensitive election materials, including sleeping mats for INEC staff and ad-hoc personnel to be deployed to Registration Area Centres (RACs) across the state.
The Electoral Officer for Emohua Local Government Area was present to receive the sleeping mats allocated to the area.
