The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared its readiness to conduct free, fair and credible elections in the forthcoming by-elections.

The Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Professor Gabriel Yomere, gave the assurance during a meeting of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security held at the commission’s office in Port Harcourt.

He said all statutory pre-election activities have been completed in compliance with legal requirements.

Yomere disclosed that 12 candidates have been cleared to contest the Khana Constituency Two and Ahoada-East Constituency Two by-elections scheduled for next Saturday.

He also confirmed that the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) devices to be deployed for the polls are fully ready for use
