The Ikokwu Traders Association has warned those bent on causing disaffection between the Association and the State government to desist from the act.
Secretary of the Association, Nnamdi Levi made this known today in Port Harcourt. He debunked the rumor making rounds that the traders are planing on resuming their normal business activities. This is despite the directive by the state government on the closure of all markets in the state. The secretary described the story as fake stating that they are being peddled by enemies of the association.
Anyone spreading such information does not mean well for the association, he asserted. He further noted that they are planing to blackmail the association so as to paint it in bad light before the state government. Nnamdi equally pointed out that all those granting interviews to the press are doing so for themselves, as it is not on behalf of the organization.
He called on the state Governor to consider allowing them open to carryout their businesses while assuring the government of the association’s support. He called on the traders not to go against the directives of the Government, no matter what.
The market has remained closed for weeks now due to the directive of the state government on market closure. This is due to the COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
